Shadow Light
Those dawn hours
Seem the longest
Daylight savings
Interrupting the rhythm
Of waking and sleeping
Earlier starts
Sleeps that seem sporadic
To times of a different daylight

Staying boring to encourage
My little one
To sleep again
The only colour
My husband’s gaming mouse
Flashing new hues
Every few seconds
Keeping her interested

The greys and shadows
So intriguing
To her young eyes
She’s reaching out to feel
The beam of light
So clear to sight
But untouchable
The shades of grey
At the break of day
Never endure
